Club Duties and Team Duties

Club Duties support the operations of the Club as a whole. While Team Duties support your child's specific team(s).

Each GHLPBA family (excluding families who only have a player registered in 5U Blastball) will have a choice to either:

1.) OPT IN to Club Volunteering by fulfilling a Club Volunteer Duty (secured with a Volunteer Commitment Cheque Deposit of $200);

or

2.) OPT OUT of Club Volunteering by paying a "Volunteer Opt-Out Fee" of $200 at time of registration.

NOTE: You CAN NOT OPT out of TEAM Duties

Club Duties

Q: What types of Club Volunteer Duties are there?

A: There are many volunteer opportunities besides positions on our board (click here for board vacancies) and coaching (please contact your division coordinator if you are interested). Prior to the season we will have a park cleanup day(s), raising the fences on the upper fields, organizing opening ceremonies and uniform distribution. Throughout the season we have photo day, field maintenance, park clean up, recycling, and other opportunities around the park. As the season winds down there is our closing ceremonies/fun day to organize and run, taking the fences down on the upper fields, and equipment collection. These are just some of the opportunities around the park where volunteers are needed.

Parents will be able to sign-up/register on our website for their Volunteer Commitments starting in January. These volunteer positions will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you do not see something that suites your skill set, please let us know as we will be happy to work with you to find a volunteer opportunity.

If you have any questions about volunteering here at Gordon Head connect with us at volunteering@gordonheadbaseball.ca

Q: How much time do I need to volunteer?

A: 4 hours of volunteering is requested for the spring season. In the year, you may only need to volunteer for one slot to complete your volunteer obligations. We are hoping that we will get enough volunteers to fill all obligations at the park. Some jobs are bigger than others, so feel free to sign up for as many spots as you are able to. If there is an opening, then that means we are in need of volunteers. As all volunteer requirements will be tracked through our online sign up page, please make sure you sign up prior to the event. If a volunteer opportunity is full and extra people show up we will greatly accept the help, but credit will not be applied to your volunteer account.

Q: What is the Volunteer Commitment Deposit?

A: Registration for players whose families choose to fulfill a Volunteer Commitment is not considered complete until a Volunteer Commitment Deposit of $200 is received.

The deposit must be in the form of a post-dated cheque dated July 1, "current year", payable to "Gordon Head at Lambrick Park Baseball Association” Please include the player(s) name in the note field. Only one Volunteer Commitment Deposit cheque is required per family.

When your Volunteer Commitment is completed for the season, your deposit cheque will be destroyed.

Q: How do I provide my Volunteer Commitment Deposit cheque?

A: Well, that depends on what division your child is registered for.

For 7U –Drop off your cheque (payable to Gordon Head at Lambrick Park Baseball Association) c/o Gordon Head Recreation Centre 4100 Lambrick Way, Victoria B.C. V8N 1W8 (mail box is to the right of the front desk), or bring it to your first practice.

For 9U/11U/13U/15U/18U - Bring your cheque to the division assessment or first practice, or drop off your cheque (payable to Gordon Head at Lambrick Park Baseball Association) c/o Gordon Head Recreation Centre 4100 Lambrick Way, Victoria B.C. V8N 1W8 (mail box is to the right of the front desk)

Note: If you have more than one child in the program, please follow the instructions above for the program that the OLDEST child is registered in. Only one volunteer check required per family.

Q: What if I am unable to Volunteer?

A: Gordon Head Baseball does understand that there are certain circumstances that lead to families not being able to volunteer. If you know that you will not be able to fulfill a volunteer position for the season, you will have the option to pay $200 WHEN YOU REGISTER and "Opt-Out" of your volunteer requirements. Only one "Volunteer Opt-Out Fee" is required per family. There are no exemptions from volunteering for any families, other than the Opt-Out process above.

Q: What happens if I don't pay the Opt-Out Fee or provide the Volunteer Commitment Deposit?

A: Players will not be given a uniform until the Volunteer Commitment Deposit cheque is received or the Opt-Out Fee is paid online.

Team Duties

Team Duties support your child's specific team(s) and include home game field preparation and scorekeeping. Opting out of Club Volunteer Duties does NOT release a family from completing Team Duties.  You cannot opt-out of Team Duties

Q: Do I still have to score keep and prep the field for home games?

A: Yes! Whether you choose to Opt-Out of Club Duties or not, each family is still responsible for their share of individual Team Duties, including home game field preparation and scorekeeping. Club Volunteer duties and Team Duties are separate.

With your help, we can continue to provide the youth in our community with an exceptional baseball experience.
